Who Needs A Neuropsychological evaluation?

Some of the behaviors that lead patients to neuropsychological testing are:

  • A disease that can affect the brain, such as:

    • Alzheimer's Disease or other dementia

    • Stroke

    • Multiple Sclerosis

    • Brain tumor

    • Parkinson's disease

    • Epilepsy

    • AIDS

  • An injury that may have affected your brain, such as a concussion or a more serious brain injury

  • A history of drug or alcohol abuse that may have affected your brain

  • Exposure to poisons, chemicals, or pollution that can cause brain damage

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or problems in school

  • Inability to sustain attention

  • Anxiety/fear or reluctance to engage in developmentally appropriate activities

  • Atypical social behaviors/inability to establish peer friendships in a manner expected for age

  • Slow acquisition of academic skills

  • Obviously bright but inconsistently performing or under-performing academically
